13 REASONS WHY?

Hello, and welcome back to Kay-tvtalk. The show i chose to talk about today is called 13 Reasons Why. This is a popular original Netflix series that premiered March 31'st 2017, and should be expecting its second season soon. This show's main character is a guy named Clay who's high school crush named Hannah has recently taken her own life. Clay tries not to deal with his emotions, until a mysterious box shows up on his porch. Inside the box are tapes recorded by Hannah, that vividly explain 13 reasons why she chose to commit suicide. Clay is not the only person who has received the tapes, the tapes are received in the order of each reason and who they include. Each tape is made for someone who she felt was responsible for her suicide in some way, even if it wasn't a direct event. Clay may or may not be a reason, why Hannah committed suicide but the thought of her recording these tapes, and all the details of the situations she suffered through while she was alive, force Clay to deal with hidden emotions or events he had not payed attention to in the past. He begins to feel overwhelmed with the hurt imbedded in his crush, he makes it his mission to get justice for her even if he is one of the reasons himself. This show has had so much controversy, it has gotten a lot of negative feedback from mental health experts and parents saying that it glorifies suicide and could cause teens dealing with similar issues to do the same thing. I personally don't think that this show has glorified suicide in anyway. I think this show was a good show and it shed light on issues that teens face everyday in  high school and how much more vulnerable teenagers are. However, it was a little dark, and i do feel like some of the reasons weren't realistic in today's day and age. I also find it hard to imagine what exactly the second season will be based on, if all the reasons were discussed in the first season. A story as deep as this one can get old very fast, and the audience may not want to watch something this sad all the time. For these reasons, i think this show is good with reservations. I hope you all take out the time to watch this show and gain an opinion of your own. I would love to hear some feedback about it, feel free to leave a comment! Thanks again for tuning into kay-tvtalk, Happy binging!

PRETTYLITTLELIARS

Hello, and welcome back to Kay-tvtalk. the show I chose to talk about today is called Pretty Little Liars. The series started a s book and premiered on television June 8, 2010 on ABC Family (channel name was changed to Freeform) and has had 7 successful seasons, and they are all available on Netflix. During high school I was literally OBSESSED with this show and Aria was my favorite character. I couldn't wait to see the new episodes every Tuesday! This show was about 5 girls who were really popular at their high school in Rosewood: Hannah, Spencer, Emily, Aria, and Allison. The queen bee of the bunch Alison, goes missing, and the girls are left to pick up pieces as their worlds come crumbling down. The girls grow apart but soon come together again after receiving mysterious text messages from an anonymous person named "A". "A" constantly threatens to expose all of the girls secrets, old secrets that only Alison would know and even new secrets developed after ...

INSECURE?

Hello, and welcome back to Kay-tvtalk. The show I chose to talk about today is called Insecure. This show plays on HBO, and is about 35 minutes long. It just finished it’s second season, and each season is only about nine episodes so there is plenty of time to catch up.This show is literally one my favorite shows ever, and this is simply because of the authenticity this show portrays. The show was created by it’s co-star Issa Rae and the writer/comic Larry Wilmore. The show focuses on Issa and her best friend Molly as they deal with everyday issues in dating, relationships, jobs, and friendships, as well as working to fix their own flaws as individuals. This show is especially unique because some of the issues the two women face are specific to black women. The lives of the characters are extremely relatable, maybe not because you experienced something similar but because its common in today's day and age. The awkward situations the two women ...

RIVERDALE

Hello, and welcome back to Kay-tvtalk. The show I chose to talk about today, is one of the newer series that started earlier this year, called Riverdale. Riverdale premieres on the CW, and is on tv right now for its second season. The first episode of the first season starts you out with a lot of information. It is revealed that one of the main characters Archie, is having an affair with his music teacher, and is afraid to tell his dad that he wants to pursue music. His girl best friend Betty secretly has a crush on him. Frustrated with the fact that he doesn't notice it, she is jealous when her new friend Veronica, who is new to town, catches his attention. Besides all the minor drama in the show, you also learn that there is a mystery the town is trying desperately to find the answers to; Jason Blossom is missing. Jason Blossom was a rich football star, and one of the most popular guys in school, along with his very popular twin sister Cheryl. The whole town is ...
